Spring Break

We had the best spring break ever.  Jon took the whole week off and we tried to do something fun almost every single day.  It was such a fun, relaxing week.

Santa Cruz

Jas got rolled by a wave and lost one of his shovels to the ocean, but he had an absolute blast in the water.  It was not warm but he did not care.

Journey and I stayed on the sand while Jas played in the water.  A rogue wave got us too, but I was able to save Journey and I spent the rest of the day with wet seat.

Daddy turned Jasper into a sand angel.
They rode the Ferris wheel on the boardwalk.  Turns out Jasper is not scared of heights and Daddy is the one with green gills.

Children's Discovery Museum
Such a fun place.  This is what it looks like as soon as you walk in.

So many things to look at and touch, and she just wanted to slide down the display.

I think Jasper looks pretty proud the their accomplishment.

San Francisco
We drove in on the Golden Gate.

We visited Pier 39 and ate lunch at the Hard Rock.  Jasper was pondering life by this monster crab statue.

Jasper and I rode the carousel.  It was a lot of fun.

We also had to drive down Lombard Street.  We also drove through Chinatown and Haight-Ashbury and through a lot of other parts of the city.  We were glad the rain held off until we were home.
Big Basin State Park
This was one of our favorite places. It's a redwood forest area.  We couldn't believe how big the trees actually are.  It was nice to be out in the fresh air.

This is a banana slug.  They are all over the area.  Weird ugly little things, but the boys were fascinated.

In the museum they have taxidermied animals and snakes and bugs that you can find in the area.  I did think putting the snakes in tubes was a neat way to display them.  You could turn them all the way around to see all the details.

Jasper and Daddy purchased walking sticks but decided to use them as wizard staffs and shoot spells at each other.

These roots must have been at least 12-15 feet and Jasper just climbed to the top like a monkey.

Tuckered out at the end of the week.  It was such a great family adventure.

Easter

We had a busy Easter weekend.  It was a lot of fun.  The kids are old enough now to get it and have a lot of fun doing things.

On Saturday we did a lot of Easter activities.
Jasper and I made rice crispy eggs with Nerds inside.
We colored eggs
Jasper made this bunny out of candy.  I thought it was very clever.
Miss ate pizza while we did the eggs.  She's not quite big enough for coloring yet.
We also went to two Easter eggs hunts.  It was a busy hot day.

Jasper and our friend Clara, who he kind of flirts with/bothers.  She's an older woman.

Sorting the loot with our friend James and his dad Brad.  Lots of the eggs were full of pencil sharpeners which the boys actually thought was cool.

This hunt was at a park and it was a massive event.  Jasper got very few eggs here due to all the teenagers but he still seemed to have fun.
Journey was completely exhausted after all the hunting.  She laid just like this for 2.5 hours.
Sunday
Journey could not stop saying wow.  I didn't put any candy in their baskets but they did get lots of other stuff.
I've decided to make this bunny pancake an Easter morning tradition.

Jasper hunted for eggs in the living room while wearing a ring pop.

We had a really fun Easter weekend and it kicked off a really great spring break.

Oyster Bay

Today we went on a nature adventure at Oyster Bay. We don't know why they call it that, but it was a great time.

Jasper took many nature photos.

Jasper took a picture of every dog we saw.  Which was many.

Perfect little boy moment.
